Fred Phelps was excommunicated from his own cult-church for a change of heart about his hateful anti-gay crusade

This is according to Zach Phelps-Roper, a member of Westboro Baptist Church who left the group earlier this year.

I'm surprised this story isn't more widely known. I'm guessing it's because people who hear it have a hard time believing it.
